FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: TEXANS FOR VACCINE CHOICE SUPPORTS THE GOVERNOR’S EXECUTIVE ORDER GA-40 & CALLS ON THE LEGISLATURE TO ACT

Texas Governor Greg Abbott Boldly Supports Protections for Texans

Schlegel: I hope the Texas legislators will act immediately to protect your individual right to choose what is best for your health.

Austin, Texas – Governor Greg Abbott issued an executive order that states, “No entity in Texas can compel receipt of a COVID-19 vaccination by any individual, including an employee or consumer, who objects to such vaccination for any reason of personal conscience, based on a religious belief, or for medical reasons, including prior recovery from COVID-19.”

In response to the new executive order, Texans for Vaccine Choice Executive Director, Jackie Schlegel released this statement:

“Governor Abbott has shown true leadership that ensures individual Texans have the ability to choose what is best for their own health needs. The Biden administration and other rogue actors continue to chip away at constitutional rights.”

“I hope the Texas legislators will act immediately to protect your individual right to choose what is best for your health. Protecting Texans should be their top priority and it is our expectation that the legislators act immediately. We will be actively working with every member in both the Texas House and the Senate to get this done.”

Texans for Vaccine Choice will be working tirelessly with all of the legislators in both political parties to find a legislative solution that protects the health and safety of Texans as well as ensuring that no one’s individual rights and liberties are violated. It is TFVC and our membership’s expectation that a meaningful legislative solution is found and acted upon in response to Governor Greg Abbott’s bold leadership and decision to expand the call.

In addition to our expectation, we send our utmost gratitude to Governor Abbott for taking this bold step (that most politicians cower in fear over) to protect every individual’s constitutional liberties. Today is the day to act and we will be at every legislator’s office demanding that they stand up for Texans.
