FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
GOV. ABBOTT ANSWERS TFVC CALL TO ASSURE PARENTS TEXAS WILL NEVER MANDATE COVID SHOTS ON TEXAS CHILDREN
Keller, TX. November 18, 2022. Yesterday, Governor Greg Abbott announced that COVID vaccine mandates for school attendance are prohibited in Texas.
Texans for Vaccine Choice is pleased with this announcement following weeks of pressure from TFVC advocates across the state after the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) voted to add Covid-19 shots to our nation’s childhood vaccine schedule.
Texans for Vaccine Choice Executive Director, Christine Welborn, thanked Governor Abbott for clarifying Texas will not allow Covid jabs to be forced on Texas kids. “It’s good to see lawmakers recognize the mandate to maintain vaccine choice and anti-lock-down positions they’ve been handed by the electorate.”
Texas finally joins Florida and 18 other Republican-led states taking firm positions for parents dictating the path of their children’s vaccine decisions.
TFVC applauds this development and the work of the grassroots, while at the same time reminding our activists to continue engaging throughout the 2023 legislative session which begins in January. TFVC refuses to rest until we’ve accomplished an aggressive medical liberty agenda.
Of the upcoming session, Welborn added, “We look forward to further protections being enacted in 2023.”
