Assistant Principal Outs Middle Schoolers’ Vax Records

Last Tuesday afternoon, TFVC began receiving calls, texts and notifications about a Leander ISD father’s Facebook post. In it, the dad – understandably livid – detailed how his middle schooler’s name was posted on a projector screen in the cafeteria, along with the names of dozens of other students, during lunch time. Mrs. Diaz, an Assistant Principal at Danielson Middle School, then read off the students’ names and allegedly threatened to remove them from school if they could not provide updated vaccine records. Unfortunately, this is not the first time LISD has been in hot water over disclosing student vaccination information, but this time the action was intentional.

The school administrators and nurse refused to take calls from TFVC, prompting our Political Director Michelle Evans to instead go to local lawmakers and media to hold the district accountable. Let us be clear – we will not tolerate children having their private medical information exposed and being bullied over this issue. This is an egregious violation of law and common sense. Obviously, nothing can undo this action, despite the district issuing a weak apology. However, TFVC will pursue legislation in the 89th Session to hold bad actors within school districts accountable for misapplying laws regarding vaccine recommendations and violating student and family privacy.

  1. Are these ISD employees citizens of the US? Have they heard of HIPPA? Have they heard of State rights? Good Lord!
THANK YOU Rebecca and TVFC team, and Texas legislators, who cherish our Constitutional and Human Rights!
Bless you for standing up for the rights of all of us, even the asleep ones.
