Tim Walz was a COVID Snitch
On August 6th, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz was announced as Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris’ running mate during a campaign rally in Philadelphia.
While giving his introductory speech, Walz admonished Donald Trump and the Republican Party, accusing them of wanting to grant the government “freedom to invade your doctors office.” Touting his upbringing in small-town, rural Nebraska, Walz cites the supposed “Golden Rule” of small towns: “minding your own damn business.”
However, Walz’ record as Governor of Minnesota shows that when it comes to vaccine choice, he did the exact opposite.
Having served as governor during the COVID-19 pandemic, Walz oversaw and enforced some of the strictest lockdown restrictions in the entire country. The regulations were supposed to be enforced state-wide, but did not seem to be applied equally. Walz notoriously set up a hotline for Minnesotans to call for the express purpose of informing authorities of people violating lockdown measures. Under his watch, the people of Minnesota were encouraged to report their neighbors for breaching social distancing or masking guidelines.
Violations of these orders carried maximum punishments of $1000 fines or up to 90 days in jail. Few citations were ever issued, but the hotline remained operational until June of 2022.
Dialing what has been dubbed online as the “COVID-Snitch-Hotline,” prompted an automated response from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety asking callers to leave their name, call-back number, how stay at home orders have been violated, and where stay at home orders had been violated.
The hotline received over 10,000 messages during its lifespan.
The sheer degree of irony and hypocrisy for the man who implemented such draconian measures, to then turn around and tell Americans to “mind their own damn business,” cannot possibly be overstated.
In addition to this hotline, Tim Walz joined other Democrat governors like Gretchen Whitmer and Andrew Cuomo in their disastrous, and sometimes fatal, pattern of stuffing nursing homes for the elderly with COVID patients. In an effort to combat overcrowding in hospitals, Walz had infected and contagious COVID-19 patients discharged and relocated into nursing homes. At this time, the knowledge that the elderly were most susceptible to mortality from COVID-19 was common and widespread.
Walz has exhibited no degree of regret for any of his decisions during the COVID-19 pandemic, including his lengthy school closures, which lasted far longer than the majority of the country. When questioned on the lower test scores received by Minnesotan children post-COVID, he deflected by first denying the hard data showing kids rapidly falling behind in their education, then highlighting the “resiliency” and “compassion” learned by being locked in their homes. “I don’t buy it,” Walz proclaimed regarding statistically substandard school performance.
Reality dictates that lockdowns had a measurably negative impact on children, both in their educational and personal lives. Aside from lower grades and test scores, studies have shown that the lockdowns prompted the onset of widespread mental illnesses in many children. Additionally, levels of sociability declined substantially as a result of lacking social interaction that is necessary for children to thrive. Walz appears to simply deny any negative consequences resulting from his policies.
Unsurprisingly, Walz’s totalitarianism did not cease upon the release of COVID-19 vaccines. Walz mandated all state employees to receive the vaccination or risk termination. Walz even requested the state legislature to impose vaccination requirements for students returning to school, although this measure was stopped in its tracks by the state’s Republican-controlled Senate and pre-existing law.
Yes, Tim Walz wanted to force parents all across Minnesota to experimentally vaccinate their children, or else bar them from returning to school. There’s no doubt that without established precedent and the legislature’s resistance, Walz would have had no problem with forced vaccinations on children statewide.
Walz seized every opportunity available to violate the medical freedom of Minnesotans. Of all politicians in the United States, he possesses perhaps one of the worst records on vaccine choice and medical liberty. Paired with Kamala Harris, who also supported lockdowns and vaccine mandates, the 2024 Democrat ticket is a nightmare for any American who believes in personal autonomy and self determination.
