FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE. KELLER,TX. February 24, 2026 ā On Monday, a Tarrant County District Court signed a final judgment in favor of Texans for Vaccine Choice against former executive director Jackie Schlegel, putting an end to over 4 years of litigation.
The final judgment affirmed a Tarrant County juryās award of over $380,000 in damages and attorneyās fees to TFVC from Schlegel based on Schlegelās breach of her employment agreement and insistence on prolonging the litigation. The court also awarded up to $200,000 in conditional appellate attorneyās fees to TFVC if Schlegel appeals the judgment and loses.
The court also imposed a permanent injunction against Schlegel and Texans for Vaccine Choice PAC, over which Schlegel has refused to surrender control since her termination from TFVC. The courtās order permanently restrains Schlegel and the PAC from further violating Texans for Vaccine Choiceās trademark, subject to penalty for contempt of court.
After a week-long trial in January, a Tarrant County jury found that Schlegel breached her fiduciary duty and employment agreement with TFVC when she transferred approximately 80% of the organizationās bank balance, more than $116,000, out of TFVCās account on the eve of a contentious board meeting. Because TFVC was able to promptly reverse the bank transfer and recover the $116,000, the jury awarded no damages for Schlegelās breach of fiduciary duty.
All of Schlegelās counterclaims against TFVC were denied by both the jury and trial court.
