Texans deserve medical liberty, full informed consent, and medical care that is guided by ethics and patient wellbeing, not financial incentives.
Months ago, Texans for Vaccine Choice was contacted by the office of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton for help identifying doctors and clinics reported to have refused to care for patients who decline some or all vaccines for their children. Armed with this crucial information, Paxton has announced an investigation into what his office describes as a “multi-level, multi-industry scheme” that has allegedly incentivized medical providers to recommend childhood vaccines that are not proven to be safe or necessary.
According to Paxton’s press release, the investigation will examine the broader “incentivization framework” that historically pushed children to receive more than 70 vaccine doses from birth through age 18.
TFVC supports transparency, accountability, and patients’ rights. If medical decisions have been influenced behind the scenes by financial bonuses, threats to employment, or undisclosed conflicts of interest, the public has a right to know.
What This Investigation Will Examine
Paxton’s office has indicated that the investigation is not limited to one company or one industry sector. It will examine whether vaccine manufacturers, insurance companies, medical providers, and other entities unlawfully colluded to hide financial incentives tied to vaccine administration.
The investigation also comes amid increasing reports that families are being denied medical care based on vaccination status. Paxton’s press release specifically referenced children being expelled from pediatric practices or denied care due to vaccine status, and noted that wages and bonuses can hinge on the number of vaccines administered.
That is not patient-centered care. That is coercion, and it erodes informed consent.
Why This Is Happening Now
Paxton’s investigation was launched on the heels of a major shift in federal vaccine policy. The CDC recently modified the childhood vaccine schedule following a comprehensive review, and the new approach has drawn scrutiny from powerful medical organizations.
The HighWire reports that at least 19 states have announced they will follow the American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines rather than the CDC’s updated schedule, despite the AAP receiving funding from major vaccine manufacturers such as Pfizer, Moderna, Merck, Sanofi, and GlaxoSmithKline.
This is not a small detail. When organizations shaping standards and messaging have financial ties to the manufacturers of the products being promoted, transparency is not optional. It is required for informed consent to be meaningful.
The Issue Is Medical Liberty and Informed Consent
TFVC does not believe access to healthcare should be conditional on compliance with a one-size-fits-all vaccination schedule.
Families have different medical histories. Children have different risk factors. Parents have different concerns, and they have the right to ask questions without threats, retaliation, or denial of care.
Informed consent means parents are allowed to make medical decisions freely, without coercion, pressure, or manipulation.
Medical liberty means the government, medical institutions, and insurance networks do not punish people for exercising bodily autonomy.
What Texans for Vaccine Choice Will Be Watching
This investigation could be one of the most significant efforts in modern history to expose financial pressures behind pediatric healthcare practices. Texans deserve full faith in the medical guidance they receive, especially when it involves their children. Any system that relies on “carrot and stick” pressure is incompatible with real informed consent.
TFVC applauds AG Paxton for his relentless efforts to hold Big Pharma accountable and is proud to include him in our Voter Guide as the recommended candidate for US Senate in the upcoming March Primary.
TFVC also encourages you to vote YES on Proposition Three that will appear on the Republican Primary Ballot. This ballot measure, which acts as a straw poll of Texas GOP voters, reads: “Texas should prohibit denial of healthcare or any medical service based solely on the patient’s vaccination status.” This will help drive legislation that will hopefully rid the Texas healthcare system of the unethical financial influences being investigated by AG Paxton.
Texans for Vaccine Choice will continue fighting until Texas has true informed consent, transparency is mandatory, and vaccine discrimination is no longer tolerated.
