FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: TEXAS HOUSE STALLS ON ADVANCING MEDICAL LIBERTY BILLS

Keller, TX. October 13, 2023 – Texans for Vaccine Choice applauds the Senate for their prompt attention to and support for SB 7. We are encouraged that in just the first four days of this special session, Senators diligently filed bills according to the Governor’s call, heard these bills in Committee, and voted them through their chamber. TFVC is so grateful for the urgency demonstrated by Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, Chair Lois Kolkhorst, Vice Chair Perry and the other members of the Senate.

We are equally discouraged by the House’s seeming refusal to organize and focus on the work they have been tasked to do by the Governor. In the same four days, Speaker of the House Dade Phelan has only allowed Representatives to be on the House floor for less than an hour, and none of that time was dedicated to deliberating legislation. House leadership has not referred any vaccine choice bills to committees and no committee has set a hearing to discuss the numerous bills that have been filed thus far to address private employer COVID-19 mandates.

While the House continues to use political maneuvers similar to those that killed The Texas COVID Vaccine Freedom Act in the regular session earlier this year, the livelihood of all Texans hangs in the balance.

  1. The politicians that are either blocking this legislation or dragging their feet on addressing it should be voted out of office. Body autonomy is too important an issue to just slough off with their political tricks, people’s livelihoods depend on them doing their job and voting this in. It does not harm others, allows for choice, and does not disrupt society in the least. Legislators, DO YOUR JOB!

  2. Strictly speaking, any “mandate” conflicts with TX laws on abortion. There is an 80+ % miscarriage rate if the shot is taken during the first trimester. Still births have increased, in some cases, by 100%, if the shot is taken during the third trimester.

Dade needs to get the legislature in compliance with TX law, as does Gov. Abbott.

  3. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY DESPICABLE THAT THEY HAVE BEEN ON THE HOUSE FLOOR FOR ONLY ONE HOUR TO DO THE PEOPLE’S BUSINESS!
WHERE IS MIDDLETON WHO WROTE THE BILL? WHY ISN’T HE ON SOMEONE’S CASE TO GET INTO THE HOUSE AND DO THE VOTING!!!
IS HE GETTING PAID BY BIG PHARMA TO PRETEND THAT HE IS FOR STOPPING COVID JABS!!!! PROBABLY SO.
    ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING ALL OF THEM!!!

  4. Is there something we can do about this? Should we send Dade a message to ask why nothing has yet been done with those medical liberty bills?

  5. WHY IS PHELAN EVEN an allowed to enter the chamber?

What is it that he uses to HOLD A HAMMER over every LEGISLATOR in there?

    HE IS DESTRUCTIVE TO TEXAS.

GET HIM OUT IF THERE. NOW……WHY is he still there.

We did NOT elect this creature!!!!
