From our April 29, 2018 Facebook Post:
“I am grateful for the medical and chaplaincy care which Alfie is receiving…I know that our medical and legal systems in the UK are also based on compassion and the safeguarding of the RIGHTS OF THE INDIVIDUAL CHILD.”
Liverpool Archbishop Malcom McMahon has been outspoken in his support of Alder Hey Hospital’s decision to starve baby Alfie Evans to death. His words and actions related to this issue have been widely criticized by Catholics around the world. He is quoted above.
Yesterday, we woke to the news that sweet Alfie has passed. Like all of you, we at TFVC are stunned, grieving the needless death of this child, and angry that this is what modern medical care looks like.
We also can’t help but notice the similarities between the language & philosophy of those who are responsible for the death of this child and that of our own opposition here in Texas.
PARENTS ALWAYS KNOW WHAT IS BEST FOR THEIR CHILDREN. When parental choice is replaced by “the rights of the child” — which in reality is the self-granted rights of the STATE — the outcome is tragic.
If you think this is an isolated incident happening far away, you are wrong.
If you think what we do at TFVC is “just about vaccines”, you are wrong.
Who has the right to make delicate decisions regarding your child’s life?
What are your motives when making those decisions?
Who seeks to remove that right from you?
What are their motives?
The choice is clear. The choice belongs with the parents.
